.
. . in a word,
excellence. Emily doesn't
settle for anything less. Emily has established herself as a total
JOCKETTE, excelling in soccer,
track, volleyball, tetherball, and ACADEMICS.
Yea, we're just a little proud!

Emily . . .
apparently slept through the vocabulary word "lose".
She loves challenges, especially in sports. Around the neighborhood,
Emily is best known for her soccer and the hours and hours she spends
kicking the ball against our garage doors, practicing corner kicks,
penalty kicks, and long throw ins. Emily plays left forward for
the Purple Panthers and loves
the game. Oddly enough, when she was young she would hide under
the table or behind a chair rather than be noticed. You'd never
know it on the soccer field and Leawood is waking up and taking
notice of "knee brace" as the competition calls her. She
is a force to be reckoned with, with a range of a half field, throw-ins
she can drop in the box in front of the net, and corner kicks she
can loop into the net. Playing on the Red
Bridge Purple Panther team has been a marvelous experience for
her to test and improve her skills and play with all of her best
friends. She rises to the challenge and lets the competition know
she doesn't back down. 2001-2002
has been a great season for her and a true confidence builder.
Emily's sports focus had been on soccer until this spring when
her coach started tryouts for Junior Olympics. Coach Jay's laps
paid off when Emily was picked to run the 600 meter, anchor the
440 relay, and the 50 yard dash, taking
first place in the 600. Graduating 6th grade, she'll be moving
up to Center Middle School next year where she will finally be able
to play organized volleyball and join the track team.
Emily's not all brawn though, she also earned the president's service
award for volunteer service in the community, was placed in the
gifted program at school, and earned the bronze award in Girl Scouts.
Naw, we're not proud of her.
