In the fall of 1999 we
were a voice of reason in the shadow of the impending Y2K crisis.
We recognized the potential danger of the Y2K "bug" on
main frame computers around the world, but were also making our
clients aware of the less disastrous impact on PC's. Did we ignore
it? Certainly not. Did we run out and upgrade every piece of hardware
and software in the shop? Just as certainly, NOT.
Y2K became a thing of
the past and PC's and their related technology integrated into virtually
every business, large or small. We became increasingly aware of
the void in support services for the small business or home office.
The need for personal networks, high speed (broad band) internet
access, web site maintenance, e-mail, virus protection, and other
system maintenance was as real for the small business/SOHO user
as for the mega companies. Yet, few (at the time) seemed concerned
with this limited market. We continued to hear the cries for help
from back offices, extra bedrooms, laptop equipped kitchens, and
where ever workers chose to do their business.
After two years of providing
PC consulting services to these clients throughout the Kansas City
area, SOHO Personal LLC was formed in the Spring of 2001, making
our commitment to the SOHO market official. We aspire to provide
the best of support services and to (get this) . . . remain SMALL.
As the kids would say . . . "it takes one to know one."
We want to help you look big, but feel small . . . just as you like
it. After all, isn't that what working at home is all about? Showing
your clients you're big enough to do it right and small enough to
do it better.
